As a pilot innovation city in China and one of the self-innovation demostration cities in Southern Jiangsu, the ratio of technology innovation of Wuxi reaches 63.9% in Year 2018 with 20 national technologyincubators, 15 makers' space and 24 featured industrial bases. And the R&D spending proportion of GDP reaches 2.85%, leaping into the front ranks of Jiangsu Province.
 

A bunch of major projects, such as the National Super-computing Centre, the Sensing Engineering R&D Institution and Jiangyin R&D Institution of New Functional Materials are under construction and will push the regional development in future.

Wuxi takes the “Taihu Talent Plan” and its upgraded version as the overall plan, and strives to gather patriotic and dedicated and outstanding talents in all disciplines, to forge the integration of industry with talents to be a distinctive feature of Wuxi in its talent development. By the end of 2018, the total number of talents in the city reached 1.69 million, including 121,000 high-level talents, 13,000 high-level overseas returnees, and 331,000 highly-skilled talents.

The Taihu Talent Plan---International Talents Special Support Plan. It is to encourage high-level talents from foreign countries to start up business in Wuxi, with projects, technology and funds; 0.1 billion yuan will be offered as project support to those who can realize core technologies industrialization and generate major economic and social benefits

The Taihu Talent Plan---Industrial Talent Priority Support Plan. It is to introduce high-level talents and their teams at home and abroad into key industries such as the Internet of Things, intelligent manufacturing, and modern service industries. It implements “one-on-one discussion” and offers unlimited quota of financial support. 5 million yuan is offered as project support for the newly introduced talents of “Thousand Talents Plan” and “Ten Thousand Talents Plan”.

The Taihu Talent Plan --- Social Welfare Talent Key support Plan. It is to introduce and cultivate a batch of high-level talents in key areas such as education, health and culture. A maximum of 15 million yuan is to be offered as project support to the introduction of team of top international and domestic medical experts, and a maximum of 10 million yuan is to be offered as project support for the creation of national-level specialty medial colleges, provincial-level clinical medical centers and key disciplines.

The Taihu Talent Plan ---Local Talent Precision Cultivation Plan. It is to encourage those outstanding representative talents at Wuxi rural areas promoting craft inheritance, leading industrial development and making progress in local prosperity. Grants will be offered by referring to that of “333 Project” of Jiangsu Province. 1 million yuan of financial support is to be offered to the “Talents in Rural Areas” who take the lead to establish studio, who realize noteworthy achievement, and whose studio is awarded the title “Master Studio”.
